They haven’t canceled the anime, the studio currently has no plans to continue the story. For over four years now, the demand for a second installment is only increasing.
Season 1 was a commercial failure for its producers. Its viewership was lower than what creators expected, whereas the DVD/Blu-Ray sales were also embarrassing.
